2017 Media Learning Seminar
Date and time
Location
Marriott Biscayne Bay
1633 North Bayshore Drive Miami, FL 33131Description
Ten years ago, as the digital age upended the news industry, Knight Foundation invited local funders to the first Media Learning Seminar to explore philanthropy’s role in meeting community news and information needs. Since that first gathering, we have been inspired to see the many efforts supported by community and place-based foundations to help ensure their communities are both informed and engaged.
I hope you will join me at the 2017 Media Learning Seminar Feb. 12-14 in Miami. On the seminar’s 10th anniversary, we will reflect on what has been accomplished and how foundations and communities might anticipate and address the challenges of the next decade. Experts in philanthropy, journalism, media and technology will identify key trends and share insights on how to use information to drive engagement and foster conversations about pressing issues, to make communities stronger and more successful.
This gathering is designed for community and place-based foundations, which, because of their local knowledge, are positioned to lead community change. With support from Knight Foundation, there is no registration fee for the seminar, which will take place at the Marriott Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami. Foundations can bring one senior staff member and one board member; registration is on a first-come, first-served basis until the seminar is full. A reduced hotel room rate of $239 per night for seminar attendees is available through the online seminar registration.
